Registration

How do I register?
You can register in two different ways. You can choose to register online, which will allow you to use your credit card (preferred method) or you can pay in person at the Football Saskatchewan office with cash or cheque.

When does registration begin?
Online registration begins January 8th, 2024.

Do I have to register online?
Yes, you can only register online.

What if I get waitlisted?
You get added to the waitlist by divisions. Players are placed on a team who loses a player from its original roster, regardless of the team location. If you refuse to join that team you will be dropped to the bottom of the waitlist for that division. NO EXCEPTIONS! The waitlist is dropped after week 3 of the season.

How can I pay for registration fees?
You can pay online through credit card or EMT. In person through cash, credit card, debit, money order or cheque.

How much does it cost to register a player?
For the 2024 season it will be $230 to register a player.

How to I get a receipt/reissue a receipt?
Anyone paying by credit card will be issued an immediate receipt via Stripe or Square Inc. If you pay in any other method (cash, cheque, email money transfer, money order) Receipts will be emailed after week three of the season. Keep your receipts for your records. Any receipt reprint/reissue at a later date will be subject to a $10 replacement fee (no exceptions).

When is the registration cut off date?
Registration deadline is January 21st, 2024. Any registrations after this is subject to an additional $20 late fee. We might close the online system before the deadline date if the league fills up. We will begin placing players on teams at this time, and there will be NO exceptions to the rule. If you register before the deadline and are waitlisted, your registration is still valid until you get added to a team or the waitlist is dropped after week 3.

Can I register more than one player at a time?
You can register as many players as you’d like online or in person as long as a payment is made at the time of registration.

Can my child play up an age group or down an age group?
The league DOES NOT only allows kids to play up an age group (unless extenuating circumstance) and the age group in which you fall is based on the YEAR you were born, not school year. You are NOT allowed to play down an age group.

Can I put in a request to play with certain players?
No. Due to problems from the 2017 season we have removed this option going forward. Do NOT ask via email or phone as no requests will be granted REGARDLESS OF ANY SITUATION.

Teams

How many players can play on a team?
A normal flag football team usually has 10-12 players, however, depending on the total number of players registered in a division, some teams may have less than 10.

Is there a maximum number of teams in each age division?
Yes and No, there is never a limit of how many teams will be in a division, if there is a multitude of teams we will create divisions to make scheduling more manageable. Once the registration limit has been reached, no more teams will be added to a division.

Games

How many games a week will my child be playing?
Every team will play one game a week. On Saturday’s and the odd Sunday, the first games will always start at 8:30am with the second game following at the same location until all groups have played. We start with the 4/5yr old division, then 6/7 division, then 8/9 division, then 10/11 division, 12/13 division. On Friday’s the first games will always start at 6:00pm with the second game following at the same location until all groups have finished. We start with the 14/15 division, and end the evening with the 16/17 division.

Where will the games be played?
All flag football games will be played at the University of Regina Soccer & Fieldturf Fields and the Regina Rugby Club Fields.

Other

How many times will my child practice a week?
Once or twice. Please respect the coaches wishes in regards to practice, but if you have any concerns express them to your coach.

Where will we practice?
The league does not book fields for practices. It is the responsibility of the coach to schedule practice in the area where the team is based out of.

Will everyone I play with be from the same part of the city?
We do try our best to put teams together that are from the same area, however, sometimes it’s not possible as it is dependent on registration numbers.

Do I need to be certified to coach?
No. You must be certified in Respect in Sport, which is a 2 hour online course https://sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com/secure. If you have already completed this course with another sport you must log in and add Football as a sport to your file.

Can we put in a request for a certain NFL team name and logo for our jerseys?
Jersey colors, teams and logos are not decided by our league. Teams are automatically assigned their team name by the NFL Flag Program inventory that is provided to us.

What do I need for my child to play flag?
Your child will be issued a mouthguard, jersey, and shorts, which are theirs to keep at the end of the season. They can wear cleats (no metal spikes or studs cleats) or runners for footwear. NO Flipflops, Slides, Sanuks or Crocs are allowed to be played in. All these aforementioned equipment is provided to you in your registration fee.

What if I selected the wrong clothing size for my child, can I get it changed?
Yes, IF we have a replacement available in our very limited inventory. If we have to order one there is a charge of $50.

If my child doesn’t like flag/I want to withdraw, can I get a refund?
From the start of registration to the start of the season fees will be returned less a $75 withdrawal fee. After game 1 fees will be returned less a $100 withdrawal fee. There will be no refunds issued after the first game.

If my 14/15 or 16/17 Competitive Division team wins provincials, where will they travel for Nationals?
The National Club Flag Championship’s location changes every year and are held in either July or August. For 2025 the U16 & U18 National Club Championships will be held in Brampton, ON, August 1st – 3rd. Teams can have a max of 10 players and 2 coaches. The full cost to attend is the responsibility of the winning teams.

Covid

What if the government shuts down sports will I get a refund?
Fees will be returned minus any hard costs committed. Anything that was ordered for the league will be delivered to all participants. We will not keep any goods paid for with registration funds.

Can I transfer fees to another season is the league gets cancelled?
No, all eligible funds are returned to parents. Our systems are not set up for family accounts similar to the City of Regina.
